In this review we discuss a little about Gate1Travel , a travel agency from the USA. Discovery tours offer you a chance to immerse yourself in culture with a smaller group size of up to 22 people. This means you get to know your group well and you are able to do more things together that cannot be done in a large group. Get ready to see hidden gems only the locals know about and linger at places your group enjoyed longer. These tours also offer more opportunity for activities and interactions with the local communities. Small group size also allows for unique and boutique accommodations, adding to the immersive nature of these experiences. Discovery tours feature a quickly expanding mix of destinations, from primary locations such as Italy and Peru to the more exotic locales which include Mongolia, Sri Lanka and Borneo, just to name a few.

Gate1Travel is a very big travel agency, you should find practically anything you may want in their offer. Lets see what are their summer 2019 top offers : We had a great time on our trip to Vietnam!! It was even better than we expected. Our guide was Trong who did an excellent job making sure we all had a great experience and learned about the Vietnamese people and culture. We would highly recommend this trip to friends!! Featured Destination Vietnam “We would love for you to join us on an upcoming Gate 1 Travel Vietnam escorted tour. If you’re looking to experience the best of Vietnam, here is your chance! Visit the magnificent Saigon Opera House in Ho Chi Minh City; explore the Old City of Hoi An; tour the Imperial City in Hue; view the thousands of limestone islands rising out of the sea in Halong Bay, and so much more! Don’t miss this opportunity of a lifetime!”.

Random customer reviews : I am actually shocked to read all these negative reviews. I just booked my 12th trip with Gate 1, have recommended to many friends who have all loved as well. A lot of these complaints seem to be about losing deposits or not getting money for cancellation – this is pretty standard in the industry I think. I don’t buy insurance with Gate 1, but I do make sure I have really good insurance with my credit card, personal travel insurance through a couple providers as well. I actually won’t travel with any other company. Read extra info about Gate1travel reviews.

Some negative reviews : When Gate1 induces you to book early by stating that prices will go up by $400 after a June 15 deadline, it is completely bogus. In my case, I booked in May just to discover 6 weeks later that prices had gone DOWN, not up. Their customer service is dreadful with people repeatedly unable to even understand what a complaint is about. Then a supervisor in the sales department deflect the problem on the marketing department. When confronted, Gate1 is very careful not to acknowledge any of this in writing and they just dont care. Their message: if the customer does not like it, that is fine, he can cancel and they keep the $300 deposit!

Some positive reviews : It was wonderful. We have taken 7 trips with Gate 1 and this was a favorite, right up there with Greece, Ecuador and Galapagos cruise. Our guide was Henry Melgarejo who did an excellent job. His love and knowledge of his country were evident. Hotels were very good and price for entire trip with flights was economical. We changed flight from Miami to DC and Gate 1 charged identical price with no increase for changing departure site. Very nice! Henry was the best guide we’ve ever had. Group was a good size of 26. Henry escorted us through Machu Picchu and even rode the train with us. We felt entirely safe the entire trip and we learned so much about the Incas. Henry is an historian and college professor who studied in USA and Peru. Gate 1 executed our trip with precision and care. Buses were new and drivers were excellent.

Bangkok shopping pick : Chatuchak Weekend Market : One of the largest markets in the world: Its land size is huge, covering an area of 35 acres. The number of stall is vast with 8000 stalls. The place brims over products of all kinds as a result. While Chatuchak covers everything you can ever imagine, unique sections worth checking out are rare to find antiques, ceramics, home furniture, and souvenirs. Best place to buy Thai handicrafts in Bangkok: Get some beautiful handicrafts while touring Chatuchak market if you plan to bring home something truly Thai. The product range is huge; the quality is high; the prices are competitive among shops. These are simply the reasons.

Just by the name itself, you might have guessed that Terminal 21 has a certain theme to it and what else would it be but everything related to travel! The design starting from the airport-esque feel of the glass and steel front to the electronic display boards to the Golden Gate Bridge spanning across an entire floor, Terminal 21 truly resonates the traveller spirit in you. Each floor resembles a famous world city. There’s Tokyo City, Carnaby Street in London , an Istanbul Souk, and Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco. Here you can shop anything from clothes to accessories to home decor. Read more travel tips about Paris, Bangkok or Los Angeles on Places to see in Bangkok.

Coming in at a whopping 2.5 kilometers in length, the trail at Lumphini Park may be too long for visitors to tackle in one go. That said, this park provides visitors with a number of things to see and do. In addition to jogging or cycling the path, the park is home to a number of sporadic aerobic classes that visitors can jump in on. Paddle boats can be rented by those who want to take to the water for the day and slowly explore the lake which sits at the park’s core. Chinese-inspired gazebos, sunbathing monitor lizards, a concert in the park; visitors never know what they are going to stumble on upon visiting this massive green space in the heart of the city.

A short etymology on the name is that this mall stands where the British Embassy was located in the early days and therefore has given the shopping mall its name Central Embassy. But enough talk of history, let’s fast forward the mall’s present. Central Embassy emphasises its classy touch through a white and neat minimalist interior and futuristic design. It is actually dubbed as the most luxurious mall in Bangkok for its expansive designer boutiques, fine-dining restaurants offering world-class cuisine, high-end movie theatres and a planned 6-star hotel. Your luxury shopping feel starts as you enter and see the swanky displays of Gucci, Givency, Prada, Vivienne Westwood, Michael Kors and so much more.

The most monumental boulevard in Paris used to be a desolate field of marshland until the 16th century, when it was landscaped by Andre Le Notre. A century later, the renowned Parisian city planner Baron Haussman designed the boulevard’s elegant buildings. The Champs-Elysees is divided into two parts with the Rond-Point des Champs-Elysees as its intersection. The lower part of the Champs-Elysees, bordering the Place du Concorde, includes a spacious park, the Jardin des Champs-Elysees, and the Petit Palais fine arts museum. The upper part, extending to the Arc de Triomphe, is lined by luxury shops, hotels, restaurants, cafes, cinemas, and theaters. This bustling area draws many tourists and is a gathering place for Parisians. The Champs-Elysees is famous for its prestigious establishments, such as Maison Laduree (75 Avenue des Champs-Elysees), a patisserie shop renowned for its 18th-century tea salon and delicious pastries (their specialty is “macarons”), and upscale designer boutiques like Tiffany & Co. (62 Avenue des Champs-Elysees), Louis-Vuitton (101 Avenue des Champs-Elysees), and Cartier (154 Avenue des Champs-Elysees).

If you only visit one major historical tourist attraction in Bangkok, this should be the one. The royal compound lives up to its name, with spectacular structures that would put the most decadent modern monarchs to shame. It’s also the home of Wat Phra Kaeo, which houses the Jade (or Emerald) Buddha. Built in 1782, the grand palace was the royal residence for generations and is still used for important ceremonies and accommodating heads of state. Dress modestly when visiting the Grand Palace, which basically means covering your arms and legs and avoiding any sloppy attire. To avoid any hassle and to make the most of your visit, take the Grand Palace and Wat Phra Kaew Tour. This is a half-day sightseeing tour, either morning or afternoon, with pick up from your hotel and a local guide to put what you are seeing in context. Without a guide, it’s easy to miss important features or not fully understand the relevance of what you are seeing, and the hotel pick up makes the whole experience that much simpler. Paris shopping pick : Rue Saint Dominique, Rue de Grenelle & Rue Cler The village-like charms, excellent boutiques, cafes and pretty streets that you’ll discover in the 7th arrondissement between the Champ de Mars gardens and the Esplanade des Invalides makes this our favorite neighborhood in Paris. Most of our apartments are located nearby, where you’ll experience the authentic Parisian lifestyle that we love. Enjoy strolling along the Rue Saint Dominique and Rue de Grenelle, both lined with lovely shops, restaurants and cafes. Be sure to walk up and down the small cross streets as you explore this neighborhood.

Sitting at the highest point in Paris like an ornamental decoration, the Basilique Sacre-Coeur has a special aura. Its alabaster facade blends Romanesque and Byzantine styles, and from far away, it looks like a wedding cake (which is its nickname). Inside the Basilica, the striking mosaic of Christ with a flaming heart gives the sanctuary an emotional and spiritual intensity, fitting for a church that was created as a symbol of hope after the Franco-Prussian War. The sanctuary is illuminated with many candles, which provide a contrast to the dark, somber space. Visitors can spend time on the terrace admiring the views of Paris or climb the tower for an even higher perspective. The Esplanade that leads up (by a staircase of over 200 steps) to the Sacre-Coeur church is a popular area for people to hang out and is often animated by street musicians.

Paris restaurant pick : Comice : The bulk of Paris’s famed haute cuisine is fiscally out of reach for many. However the year-old Comice, headed by Canadian chef Noam Gedalof and sommelier Etheliya Hananova (the two are married), is an indulgence that won’t completely melt your credit card. The look strikes a similar balance: elegant but relaxed, with striking arrangements from a renowned local florist. Hananova’s wine list — which features lesser-known wines from around the world — is terrific, as is Gedalof’s light, inventive contemporary French cooking. Try the duck foie gras with hazelnuts, strawberries, balsamic, and black pepper or the butter-poached lobster with sweet pea and mascarpone ravioli.

Amazing food and wine tours in Italy … Encounter a side of unseen Italy in the undisturbed region of Abruzzo. Medieval castles remain strong, overlooking a valley of lush vines. The Apennine Mountains form extraordinary backdrops to historic hillside towns. Fishermen continue using ancient fishing techniques along the coastline. Shepherds traverse the undulating landscape, faithfully following their flock. Farms produce an abundance of flavorful cheeses, and vineyards make inspiring wines. Your custom tailored Italy tour immerses you in historical culture set in a divine landscape where the mountains meet the eastern shore.

Sardinia … an amazing place to see.. Clinging to the top of a steep mountain ridge, the precipitous streets of Nuoro open to views in every direction. The 19th-century cathedral of Santa Maria della Neve sits above a cliff that drops straight into the valley, and the small plaza in front of the church is almost the only level spot in town. Nuoro is a good base for exploring the surrounding Gennargentu, Sardinia’s most rugged and beautiful interior mountains, and the remote villages (Mamoiada is especially interesting), which seem barely touched by the 20th century, let alone the 21st. It’s a fascinating region, with towns clinging to steep mountainsides and local customs that still ring of the ancient past. Driving here, however, is not for the faint of heart, as roads are narrow and steep with hairpin turns over sheer drops, without railings. You can learn more about these villages and their often strange customs at the outstanding Museo Etnografico Sardo (Museum of Sardinian Traditions), which alone is worth a stopover in Nuoro. This is the island’s best collection (and brilliantly displayed) of Sardinian costume and decorative art; clothing is shown on models with jewelry and accessories worn at weddings and festivals. An entire gallery displays traditional masks. While you’re there, the National Archeological Museum has collections excavated from the Neolithic sites, as well as fossils.

Capo Coda Cavallo, in north-eastern Sardinia – Gallura, is a promontory of granite land jutting above coastline in a stretch of sea sheltered by the majestic island of Tavolara, the rocks of Molara and the isle of Proratora. It is a 15,000 hectares of protected marine area, that has conserved its environmental heritage and the fish fauna due to the difficulties in reaching the place. The protected natural marine area of Punta Coda Cavallo is composed of many inlets with cliffs and sandy beaches immersed in the Mediterranean scrub that releases intense aromas; worth to see the beach of La Cinta developing for about 5 kilometers with a very white sand. The marine area of Tavolara-Capo Coda Cavallo is ideal for diving. Read more about Tailor-made tours Sardinia.

Basilica di Saccargia, This striking, black and white striped, 12th-century basilica is the most important example of Romanesque style architecture on the island. Located in the countryside near Sassari, inside are beautifully preserved frescoes you can admire. If you are looking for adventure, take a roughly two hour hike through the ancient Nuragic settlement of Tiscali along the river to reach an immense 1500 foot high gorge. Pack a picnic and see if you can verify the local legend of seeing stars at the bottom of the gorge.

East of Sardinia, is the favorite holiday destination of some of the wealthiest people in the world. Ever since Prince Aga Khan visited this region in the 60’s, many celebrities have chosen the Sardinian Emerald Coast to spend their vacation. This makes finding an affordable hotel during the summer months relatively difficult, but the side effect is that there’s a lot to see when you’re strolling along the shoreline. In July and August, many millions of Euros float in the harbor of Porto Cervo, which is the place to be for luxury yacht spotters during the summer. At Porto Cervo Yacht Club, spotting multi-million dollar yachts, such as the Maltese Falcon, is not very difficult.

Gracious Spanish colonial-style homes line twisty streets vegetated lushly and sequestered aesthetically from the big-city world.

Train and prepare: The trek to Everest Base Camp is a stunning walk through the world famous trail to Mount Everest. It is not a technical climb; you do not need to have any previous technical climbing experience or even any altitude experience to complete the trek. However, you do need to be physically fit and have excellent strength, conditioning and endurance to be able to complete the trek and to fully enjoy the journey. If you have not trained your body to withstand the pressures of constant strain at high altitude, you will find it a very difficult task to complete the trek, risking your and other people’s safety. I would recommend that you spend at least four days a week doing some sort of intense physical exercise for approximately six to eight months prior to your starting date of your trek. Personally, I would have spent at least four days a week either walking up hill on a treadmill or walking on a stair-master (stair master is best) for one hour to two hours building up to 10 kilos (22lbs) in a backpack on my back. I have always been lucky and lived in a place where I had access to hills to train on the weekends, and I found that this was the greatest training I could get for trekking. I would spend at least one day a week out in the hills or mountains for at least a 4 hour walk and up to 7 hours in a row.

Manaslu region trekking is one of the hidden gem in the central north part of Nepal. Manaslu towering at 8167m the 8th highest peak of the world is conquered by few and acclaimed as one of the most dangerous 8000er peak. The Manaslu region trekking gives you an opportunity to walk through one of the most varied landscape due to it’s wide altitude variation. The trek starts from Arughat which is at mere 500m and goes to the elevation of Larkya pass at 5143m. You experience the sub tropical climate to the high mountain climate in one trek. At the end of your trek you also traverse through the section of Annapurna circuit trek making it an ace. The journey is full of scenic locations, beautiful villages, rich Tibetan influenced culture and amazing mountain views. The Manaslu region trek can be done directly through the Larkya or visiting the isolated and sacred villages of Tsum valley. It requires a special permit to get in this region which is still far away from the modern civilization. We can see the Buddhist monasteries, Mani walls, prayer flags all along our way. The region is attracting more visitors in recent years. However, the authenticity and the unmatchable panorama is still intact which the visitors get to see still today. Manaslu region trek is certainly a great way to see diverse Nepal and soak in it’s pure form.

Make Sure to Eat Enough – We provide three meals a day on the trek and a hot drink with each meal. If you’re hungry Dal Bhatt will be your best option as it is served as an all you can eat dish. This is the traditional Nepali dish that consists of rice, dal, a vegetable and a papad (fry bread) and pickle. We recommend the vegetarian options since the meat on the mountain is not very hygienic. It’s okay to eat the Yak cheese and eggs but take it easy on the cheese. Here is a good video showing the typical food and menu options.

Everest region trekking area is protected under the Sagarmatha National Park. The northern part of the district (Khumbu) is encompassed in the Everest National Park, which was established to protect the fragile environment of the alpine region. Likewise the region is close to Makalu-Barun National Park in eastern part. This national park is remote and wild stretch of mountain peaks and deep densely forested valleys. To the west is the Rolwaling valley, a well-protected microcosm of cultures and ecology. The southern part of the district, Solu is much less frequented by tourist and be a very rewarding destination in its own right. Besides the Mount Everest there are other 8,000 meter peaks in the region. Lhotse, Cho Oyu and Makalu and in addition numerous other peaks lesser altitude but no less stunning. Add to this glacial lakes rhododendron forest, native flora and fauna, traditional villages and ancient Buddhist monasteries, all go to make this region a spectacular destination. Read extra details at Manaslu circuit trekking.

Tips : Give yourself a few days after the trek before you have to fly home. Flights were delayed for 3 days near the end of our trek. Some people were stuck in Lukla for 3 days waiting with no way out. If they had to fly the next day home, they would have missed their flight.

Phi Phi island is a fabulous looking tropical gropu of islands. The Phi Phi Islands are an island group in Thailand, between the large island of Phuket and the Straits of Malacca coast of Thailand. The larger of the 2 islands, is shaped like a figure 8 and linked by a delicate chain of golden sand. Here stands the island’s original Muslim fishing village, Baan Tonsai, now engulfed by the ever-expanding centre of bungalows, cafes and hotels. A pleasant 1 hour coastal walk from Baan Tonsai will lead you to Had Yao – Long Beach, with tantalising white sands, vibrant offshore marine life and unhindered views of the spectacular cliffs of Phi Phi Leh, 4 kilometres to the south. You’ll also enjoy climbing the steep trails on Phi Phi Don’s 2 massifs – View Point, where you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking views of the island.

Koh Phi Phi’s climate is tropical and warm throughout the year. The northeast monsoon from November into January is wonderful, with breezy clear days and fragrant cool nights. From February to May the breezes end, and the weather is at its best. From November to May, Phi Phi Island has 26 sunny days per month. The southwest monsoon, from late May to October, brings rain and winds to the west coast of southern Thailand, but there are still 20 sunny days per month. Most often it’s only a cool, late afternoon shower, but there can be rainy days on Koh Phi Phi. Seas can be quite rough during this season and swimmers should be careful.

One of the most popular activities attracting visitors in Koh Phi Phi is kayaking. Most resorts are happy to organise a trip for you, and most kayaks cost around 700 Bhat per day. This is an innovative way to see all the island has to offer, with the boat able to reach secluded caves and parts of the blue waters unreachable by land. Serenely skim across the aqua waters and relax in a kayak for an unforgettable experience on the island. And why not step your kayaking experience up a gear? Paddle boats and waterskiing trips are also extremely popular here, and costs average at around 150 Bhat per day. More details on Phi Phi islands tour.

The tropical paradise of Phi Phi Island is composed of two islands: Phi Phi Don and Phi Phi Ley. Although Phi Phi Don is the main island, Phi Phi Ley has quite a bit to offer tourists. Loh Samah Beach is located on the much smaller island of Phi Phi Ley. Since this entire island is surrounded by limestone walls, very little damaged was sustained by the tsunami. To this day, the island and beaches shine like a precious gem. Although the Phi Phi Ley island is uninhabited, it is still a common stopping destination for tourists and diving trips. Most diving trips stop at Loh Samah Beach since the southern coastline bay provides shallow diving for beginners. The cliffs and caves can also provide shelter from the sun and rain. More experienced divers head towards the seaward side of the Loh Samah Beach pinnacle because the current can be fairly strong.

While no things to do list in Koh Phi Phi would be complete without mentioning the fun nightlife available on the island. Get a bucket (or two) and stroll around the beach watching the many fire dancing shows and party it up in the main beach bars and clubs. Eager to dance in the sand until the sunrise? Great, so is everyone else. No matter what, you’re bound to have a few good nights while partying in Koh Phi Phi.

Whether it’s on the Pileh Bay Lagoon, the Bamboo or Mosquito islands, or the other various sites at Ko Phi Phi Don, snorkeling is a unique experience that you must experience at least once. In Hat Yao, a beach in the south coast of Phi Phi Don, you can spot clown fish and black tipped sharks. It’s a 30-minute walk from Ton Sai, or you can take a long-tail boat for around 100 baht from Ton Sai pier. At Loh Samah Bay you’ll be able to see plenty of coral and reef fish such as the angel fish, while in Ao Toh Koh if you’re lucky you might even be able to swim with dolphins!

Punta Cana, a tropical Eden, an amazing destination. Punta Cana is the region located at the furthest eastern point of the Dominican Republic, known for its gorgeous white sand beaches, its luxurious resorts, and its tropical vibe. Cana Bay Beach Club & Golf Resort is so much more than just a resort. This marvelous destination is located right on the beach of Arena Gorda in Punta Cana. It features several amenities such as a Hard Rock Golf Club with an 18-hole golf course, Cana Bay Beach Club with a beach bar and restaurant, which both serve tasty food and lovely cocktails, and Cana Bay Racquet Club, which has two tennis courts and two paddle courts. The Wellness Center & Spa is under development and should be opened in 2018. This Instagram-worthy location will have a juice bar with natural smoothies, a few treatment rooms, and a private swimming area.

Punta Cana’s beaches aren’t quite white; instead they’re better described as a pure golden color, which goes well with the DR’s Amber Coast associations. But this region has also become closely tied with the links – those vacationers not working on their tans can often be found perfecting their golf swings at the Punta Espada or La Cana golf courses. Meanwhile, those traveling with kids will want to plan a visit to Manati Park or Dolphin Discovery for an up-close view at some of the creatures that call this tropical paradise home. And when you’re not lazing on the beach with a good book, cool off in the clear blue water with a boat tour.

For an opportunity to explore an untouched portion of the Dominican Republic, head over to Indigenous Eyes Ecological Park, a private protected nature reserve maintained by the PUNTACANA Ecological Foundation. The park is open from dawn until dusk for guests staying at the nearby PUNTACANA Resort and Club, as well as other members of the PUNTACANA community. Activities include cultural exhibits, a petting zoo, a sugarcane exhibit, five different swimming holes and an iguana habitat. Several ‘Ecological Excursions,’ such as a Segway Eco Tour and Horseback Trail Ride, are also available upon reservation.

If daytime activities are abundant, nights are no less vibrant. The young at heart can dance the evening away until their feet tire at the DR’s modern nightclubs, while classy evenings under the stars await at marinas and seaside lounges, with cocktails, bites, and hand-rolled cigars. Punta Cana is the quintessential water, sun, and sand escape. Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ) is the most-connected airport in the Caribbean and Central America, receiving flights from 26 countries and up to two million passengers a year. Since 2017, the area is also a cruise ship destination thanks to Marina Cap Cana, which now welcomes small luxury cruise ships. By land, the Oscar de la Renta highway, also known as Autopista del Coral, puts visitors less than an hour away from La Romana’s beaches and multiple attractions, and just two and a half hours from Santo Domingo and its Colonial City. Looking for transfer Punta Cana? Check our partners at transferdmc.com!

Nepal is a an awesome destination if you are looking for ancient history mixed with trekking and adventure feeling. Set on a hilltop to the west of Kathmandu, Swayambhunath is the second most important shrine in the Kathmandu Valley after Boudhanath. Due to the resident monkeys that inhabit parts of the temple, it is more affectionately known as the Monkey Temple. The Swayambhu Stupa, painted with the eyes of the omnipresent god, forms the centerpiece of the temple complex. It was originally a prehistoric cult site, but the temple complex dates to the 5th century. Swayambhu plays a major part in the lives of the Vajrayana Buddhists of Northern Nepal and Tibet, but especially of the Newari Buddhists of the Kathmandu Valley.

The archipelago has 365 islands picturesque and palm tree covered, uninhabited and set in indescribably beautiful aqua waters. When famous author John Le Carre of The Tailor of Panama stayed in San Blas his comment upon taking in an island view was, “This is not paradise, this is heaven.” This is the place to go if you truly want to “get away from it all” to be seeped in and surrounded by nature. Owned by the Guna indians, they’ve kept everything natural and authentic. What a pleasure to spend a few days where there’s no concrete, glass or steel. Isla Robeson or in English Isla Robinson Crusoe is pretty famous as you probably know the name! This island is another beautiful tropical place with white beaches and warm clear water. The place you dream about at night. Not much to do there then hang out on the beach. When you enter the Golfo de San Blas from Colombia or the Caribbean Sea you will have to go through customs first at El Porvenir. At first sight this island seems a little bit dull because there are actual buildings on it, trust us this is a rare sight on the islands! But you can stay there and enjoy the nice beach, play some football with the soldiers and other travellers and set sail for a new island the next day. This is also the only beach you can visit by plane because of the small airstrip.

The San Blas Islands are magical. With their pristine white sands and clear blue seas many people compare them to the Fiji Islands. I’ve met lots of very experienced travellers, who’ve been all around the world, who say that this multi-day adventure is one of their best travelling highlights. With 390 unique Islands you could visit an island each day of the year and you’ll still have some left over! Most of them are so small that you even have trouble finding them on Google Maps. What’s better is that travelling to this unspoiled natural wonder is actually very affordable. In this article I’d like to tell you the most important things you need to know to experience this amazing place as well!

San Blas is lobster heaven. If you go snorkelling the chances are high that you will see them hiding in their little shelters. If not you can buy one from the Kunas and have it cooked to perfection by a local for $6. Not $60 like you’ll have to pay in a fancy restaurant in Europe. $6 in San Blas.
