Not too long ago, TheYeezyMafia brought us the big news, a Triple pack of Yeezys was dropping in December and January 2020. The starting colorway would be Yeezreel Dropping on December 14th, 2019, followed by the Yeezy Yecheil on December 20th. The third iteration would be the Yeezy Yeshaya but we have to wait until January to get a hold of these. The inspiration for this biblical pack was drawn from Kanye’s religious transformation and his out-of-this-world Sunday Services. And as for the names, well they’re drawn from Hebrew. As far as we know now, the 3 new Yeezys are all dropping in a reflective and non-reflective version. And it goes without saying that the reflective versions will be worth a lot more!

Brooks is primarily known for its big, bulky comfort models, like the super padded Glycerin 16. Even its speedy racing flats are full of plush padding and midsoles, like the PureFlow line. They seem a lot like racing spikes without the spikes. They’re incredibly light and the feel super fast. A pair of men’s 11 are just 14.5 ounces. The Brooks Launch 6 is not the fastest, lightest or most cushioned shoe out there. However, it is a brilliant Goldilocks shoe, offering a balance of speed, weight and cushioning that makes it a reliable pick for all kinds of training and racing. On top of that, it’s renowned for its durability, which should be extended even further in this sixth edition thanks to some extra foam under the forefoot. It also costs less than 100. A lot of runners will balk at the idea of spending 100+ apiece on two or three pairs of shoes for the perfect set-up for different training runs and races. The good news is you don’t have to; a pair of Brooks Launch gets the job done every time you pull them on.

I’ve been training in ASICS Speedstars for over five years and can get away with running my longest workouts in them – even up to 22 miles. If you have always worn a more structured shoe then I wouldn’t jump into the Speedstars for 100% of your mileage. Be smart and make the transition gradually since they have neutral pronation control. In other words, there’s no pronation control. Weighing in at 8.9 ounces, the Speedstar is light but not as light as more traditional minimalist shoes like the the Merrell Trail Glove, which weighs only 6.2 ounces. This extra weight comes from a combination of a more supportive upper – more on that later – and a cushioned sole.

Last year we had the Brooks Ghost 9 in this list, but it has been usurped by the Brooks Levitate 2. As the name would suggest, this shoe is all about the energy return.
